CMMG rolls out an all-new rifle, the MkW ANVIL XLR2, chamebred in the power-packing 6.5 Grendel.
Offering a 22-inch medium tapered barrel, the mid-sized AR pushes the 6.5 Grendel round out to 800 yards. Utilizing the ANVIL’s Powerbolt design, created by CMMG, the rifle functions with a modified AR-10 sized bolt which allows it to tackle larger rounds with increased durability.
The ANVIL’s upper receiver has been shortened by three quarters of an inch in order to minimize weight while offering a more ergonomic approach to this AR-15 platform. The 43-inch rifle sports amenities such as a Geissele Automatics SSA 2-Stage Trigger, fully ambidextrous CMMG changing handle and safety selector, CMMG SV Muzzle Brake and RML 15 M-LOK Handguard. In addition, the rifle is equipped with a Magpul MOE Pistol Grip and PRS Stock.
“The 6.5 Grendel is a great round. It has very minimal recoil. It is also flat shooting out to 500 yards and beyond. It’s great for hunting medium-sized game such as deer and pigs, and best of all, you can find ammo for it that is relatively inexpensive,” Chris Reinkemeyer, CEO of CMMG, said in a press release. “In building the ANVIL XLR2 with a 22-inch barrel, along with some of our other finest components, we designed this rifle to help shooters achieve the best possible results with this caliber.”
The 6.5 Grendel ANVIL XLR2 ships with a 10-round magazine. In addition to the new rifle, CMMG announced that the 6.5 Grendel ANVIL upper receiver will be available and compatible with any MkW ANVIL lower.
The MkW ANVIL XLR2 in 6.5 Grendel is available through CMMG with a MSRP of $2,299.
